Here's the truth: You might find Ray Knight, a.k.a. NRRAY, listening to all types of music depending on his mood. But hands-down country music has always struck a special chord with him, speaking to him about life in a very personal way. Not many forms of music can do that. "I think all country music is good, but I really feel the 'traditional' sound needs to be brought back out more in today's music," Knight says. "I am determined to keep the original sound of country music alive and well." As program director for America - XM 10 and Willie's Place - XM 13, Knight promises to do just that with music, lifestyle, politics, features, and open-door access to the fans and the artists. Along with the facilities in DC, XM's studios at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville gives listeners exclusive access to much of the history of Country music. A native of New York state, this 1995 inductee into the NY State Country Music Hall of Fame has always wanted to bring the entire spectrum of country music to the radio. His dream has been realized with XM's country offerings. "We give fans of all types of country music a home. From Kenny Chesney and Johnny Cash to Robert Earl Keen and Lester Flatt; XM has you covered.
Born and raised in Texas, Clarence joined the wild bunch at Willie's Place - XM 13 after various jobs in Houston and New Orleans. In 1962, even though he was underage, he put his first nickel in a slot machine in Vegas and won fifty cents. Ever since, he's been fascinated with betting and nickels. That's why he plays the jukebox at Willie's Place every weekday from 10AM - 1PM ET. Throughout his life, Clarence has bet on the horses and he's bet with dice...now he's bettin' on Willie's Place, the honky tonk that never closes!
